Parliamentary Affairs Department came into being in 1990 after being separated from G.A. Department. Setting up of an independent Department for handling Parliamentary Affairs was a long felt need, and the successive All India Conferences of the Whips had been recommending from time to time for setting up of an independent Department of Parliamentary Affairs in each State in the pattern of the Department of Parliamentary Affairs at the Centre.
